Avignonesi is a Tuscan producer with a long history, but has really started to thrive since it was taken over in 2009. There has been a huge investment in the estate and winery, and there has been a big move towards being organic, biodynamic and sustainable. They now have 175 hectares in the Montepulciano appellation within Tuscany. Since Virginie Saverys took over the estate, she and her team have focussed on getting life back into the vineyard soils, and use no unnatural intervention.

47,8% Orpicchio, 22,1% Vermentino, 17,5% Grechetto, 12,6% Trebbiano

This wine is made from four different vinifications:
Orpicchio: whole cluster pressing followed by fermentation and ageing in amphorae and used barriques. Vermentino: whole bunch pressing followed by fermentation and ageing in amphorae. Grechetto: 6-day carbonic maceration in stainless steel followed by fermentation and ageing in used barriques. Trebbiano: 48-hour maceration of destemmed grapes followed by fermentation and ageing in used barriques. The individual wines aged on the fine lees during the winter before being blended and bottled in spring.

Intense yellow colour. A harmonious wine with a distinct and fresh personality. The nose is elegant with delicate notes of pineapple, white peach, elderflower and white flowers. Notes of lime and wildflower honey emerge on the palate. The marked acidity makes it long and elegant. The finish is savoury and persistent.
