Made predominantly from Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz, this Portuguese red comes from Alianca’s Quinta d’Aguiar estate in Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, in the Beiras region. The 360-hectare property has around 80 hectares planted with these grape varieties, rooted in schist soils that contribute to the wine’s character. Fermentation and ageing in stainless steel help preserve the freshness and vibrancy of the fruit.
On the nose, expect ripe bramble fruits and plum, with a hint of warming spice. The palate is generous and juicy, offering fresh red cherry and blackberry leaf flavours, balanced by supple tannins that provide structure without overpowering the fruit. A subtle spicy note rounds off the finish, making this an approachable, versatile red with plenty of flavour.
I deal alongside hearty meat stews, bangers and mash or barbecued meats.
