Founded in 2005, the idyllic Bluebell Vineyard sits at the edge of Ashdown Forest in East Sussex. From their carefully tended vines they produce sparkling and still wines under the Hindleap and Ashdown brands respectively.
Pure Pinot Meunier sparkling wines are rather in vogue among grower Champagne enthusiasts and this stunning Sussex example gives a good idea of why. Made as a Blanc de Noir, this shows the delightful red berry fruit, floral notes and subtle herbs characteristic of this wonderful grape variety. 24 Months lees ageing have imparted some nice creamy notes to this raspberry-scented beauty and the generously rich palate makes this a brilliant sparkling to pair with food. Try it with tuna tataki or a selection of charcuterie.
