Deep ruby with some garnet at the rim, showing maturity but still vibrant in the glass.
The bouquet is elegant and classic Bordeaux. Notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, and red plum mingle with secondary aromas of tobacco leaf, cedar, leather, and a touch of earthy undergrowth. There is a subtle presence of oak influence, offering hints of vanilla and spice.
Medium-bodied with firm but integrated tannins. The fruit is still present, mostly dark berries and cassis, balanced by tertiary flavours of dried herbs, graphite, and a touch of mushroom. The acidity remains fresh, giving the wine a lifted structure and good ageing potential. The finish is moderately long with lingering notes of spice, cedar, and a touch of savoury minerality.
Drinking well now, especially with some decanting, holding nicely for a 2008. Ideal with grilled lamb, roast beef, or mushroom-based dishes.
