Château Haut-Bailly is one of the great names of Pessac-Léognan, famed for producing wines of finesse and remarkable longevity. The estate, whose winemaking history dates back to the 1600s, is situated on a gravelly ridge in the heart of the appellation, where Cabernet Sauvignon thrives. Today, Haut-Bailly is celebrated for its ability to marry the structure and depth of Bordeaux’s Left Bank with a silky, almost Burgundian elegance.

The 2005 vintage in Bordeaux is legendary for being warm, dry, and almost perfect for ripening which produced wines with ripe tannins, great concentration, and long-term ageing potential.

Deep ruby in colour, the wine opens with an expressive bouquet of blackcurrant, plum, and blackberry, layered with cedar, graphite, tobacco leaf, and subtle floral notes. On the palate it is full-bodied yet impeccably balanced, with ripe fruit framed by fine-grained tannins and a fresh line of acidity. Hints of spice, earth, and mineral complexity build toward a long, harmonious finish. Ideal with roast duck, venison, or beef wellington; also superb with aged Comté or firm French cheeses.

Now entering its peak drinking window, it is both powerful and graceful.
