When Bernard and Cécile Croisille first leased 7 hectares of vineyards in Cahors in 1979 the site was in such disrepair it took until 1984 before they made their first harvest. Until 1994 they sold their crop to the local co-operative, but their ambition was always to make their own wine. When Germain, their son, joined the business in 2008 they really pushed on in quality, and he encouraged their conversion to organic farming completed in 2010.

Les Croizilles is Malbec from its homeland, in its purest and most varietal form. Hand-harvested from their limestone vineyards and fermented and aged in concrete tanks, it is bursting with black fruit and freshness.

Blackberries, damsons and a hint of lavender fill the generous nose. On the palate it presents a much juicier side of Malbec, with sleek ripe tannins, masses of forest fruits and a lovely chalky hint. Bright acidity and a long finish give this such delightful drinkability. A lovely pairing for grilled and roasted meats, or get adventurous and try it with soy-roasted aubergine.
