Domaine Bertrand Ambroise is family-run domaine, where Bertrands children (Francois and Ludivine) now do much of the work in the production. Always with the ability to age, Francois has introduced extra freshness and elegance to the wines whilst still retaining depth and concentration. Harvest was slightly delayed (due to rain) to mid-September. Usual de-stemming of the Pinot Noir, then aged in oak for 12-18 months. These wines are always charming and expressive.
From probably one of the best located vineyards in the appellation, just south of the 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale, the Côte de Nuits Villages 2019 was aged in 40% new oak demi-muids and is a superbly expressive wine. Blackcurrant fruit, dense and powerful yet harmonious.
