This wine comes from the historic terroir of the Laudun appellation nestled in the Gard department and officially elevated to AOP status in 2024. The vineyards are located on stony, sand- and clay-inflected slopes with fossil-rich sediments near Laudun, Saint-Victor-la-Coste and Tresques. A family-run estate, Domaine Pélaquié (100 ha established since the 16th century), works these parcels with care, seeking full ripeness and vibrant varietal character.

For the 2022 vintage, the grapes of the white blend, Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Viognier etc) were hand-harvested from sandy/clay soils with fossilised sediments. After destemming, cool fermentation and fine-lees ageing. Soils of sand and clay help regulate vigour and lend freshness; the northern exposure of parcels aids elegance.

Pale gold in the glass, the wine opens with lifted aromas of white peach, pear blossom, citrus zest, and acacia, with a faint hint of fennel and honeyed almond. The palate is vibrant yet supple, with layers of ripe stone fruit, lemon oil, and wild herbs balanced by a line of saline minerality and a crisp, refreshing finish. Textural and elegant, it captures the Rhône’s Mediterranean generosity without losing freshness.

Serve with grilled sea bass, shellfish, roast chicken with tarragon, or Provençal vegetable dishes.
