The vineyard is located in Pampa El Cepillo at 1,050 meters above sea level, at the cold, southernmost tip of the Uco Valley. The ungrafted vines, over 70 years old, grow on a gentle south-facing plain composed of river stones, sand, and consolidated calcium carbonate.
Twenty percent of the fruit undergoes whole-cluster fermentation with a long cold soak, followed by 25 days of fermentation in 1,000-litre untoasted French oak foudres. The wine is then matured in the same oak for 12 months and aged in the bottle for an additional 8 months before release. Only 3,597 bottles were produced.
Tasting this wine almost makes you forget it's a Malbec. The variety has evolved significantly over the past two decades, now capable of producing exceptionally fine, elegant wines far removed from the ‘fruit-bombs’ of the past. The fruit purity is divine, and the lean texture balances austerity and luxury with grace. It is a magnificent example of winemaking that respects the vineyard above all else.
