Pierro’s Fire Gully label comes from the heart of Margaret River’s Willyabrup area in Western Australia, a region known for its mild maritime climate and gravelly loam soils that favour Chardonnay. The vineyard has been under the Pierro team’s care for decades, and their approach focuses on producing a style that’s ripe and expressive but still shaped by freshness and subtle oak handling.

The 2024 Fire Gully Chardonnay shows a pale straw colour and a clean, open aromatic profile. Citrus notes lead, mainly lemon and a touch of grapefruit with gentle stone-fruit hints and a light floral accent. The oak is present only in the background, adding a faint creamy tone without overt richness.

On the palate, the wine is bright and neatly balanced. The fruit sits in the medium-ripe spectrum, offering flavours of white peach and melon, while a firm line of acidity keeps it lively. The texture is smooth but not heavy, with just enough weight to give the wine shape. It finishes crisp and refreshing, leaving a clear, uncluttered impression that reflects both the vineyard’s coastal influence and Pierro’s restrained winemaking style.
