The Basalt Chardonnay 2023 is produced from carefully selected Chardonnay grapes grown on volcanic basalt soils in the Willamette Valley. The grapes are harvested when they reach optimum ripeness before being gently pressed and fermented. The wine is matured in French oak barrels, mainly older oak, to build texture and complexity while maintaining fresh fruit flavours and the natural minerality of the vineyard.
A bright, elegant Chardonnay with aromas of lemon zest, green apple and ripe white peach, complemented by subtle notes of toasted nuts and vanilla. The palate is fresh and well-balanced, showing crisp citrus, orchard fruit and a light creamy texture. A fine mineral edge and vibrant acidity carry through to a long, clean finish, making it an excellent partner for seafood, roast chicken or creamy pasta dishes.
