Founded in 1920 by Domenico Meroi in Buttrio, the heart of the Friulii Colli Orientali DOC in northeast Italy. Now run by Paolo Meroi, great-grandson of the founder, From the excellent terroir of the region, and their carefully tended organic vineyards, Paolo crafts some of Italy's most thrillingly complex white wines.
Coming from a selection of their vineyards, south facing on red marl soils, giving powerful concentration balanced by firm acidity. Fermentation and ageing is undertaken in 100% new French oak, which can be supported thanks to the superb ripeness of the Chardonnay grapes.
Deep and complex on the nose, with the bold oak well balanced by floral and fruity notes. Ripe and rounded at the front of the palate, with notes of apricot and pear alongside creamy vanilla before a refreshing mineral note in the finish.
