Enzo Pontoni is one of Italy's most famous winemakers, known for creating precise white wines. Drawing from the famous 'ponca'/marl & limestone soils of the Slovenian border, north of Trieste, Enzo has tended 10 hillside hectares of organic vineyards.
Fermented in French oak where it then ages for 8 months, before further refinement in bottle of around 6 months. A full and complex nose, classic Chardonnay, with peach and lemon curd, hazelnut and buttered toast aromas. The palate balances a rich and generous body with Chablis-esque tautness in the excellently composed finish. A star already but certain to reward further time in the cellar.
