Orgo Rkatsiteli 2023 comes from Kakheti in Eastern Georgia, a region renowned for it's ancient qvevri traditions. Orgo is a family estate run by winemaker Giorgi Bedenashvili, who focuses on old-vine fruit and minimal-intervention techniques to express the authenticity of Georgian terroir. This Rkatsiteli is made as a skin-contact orange wine, with fermentation and ageing in buried clay qvevri that allow the grape’s natural texture, aromatics and tannins to emerge.
The 2023 vintage opens with aromas of quince, dried apricot, orange peel and subtle floral notes, layered with the earthy, slightly honeyed nuances typical of qvevri ageing. The palate is textured and gently grippy, showing flavours of stone fruit, citrus zest, pear skin and warm spice, carried by bright acidity. A fine tannic backbone adds structure without heaviness. The finish is long, mineral and savoury, leaving impressions of herbs, citrus and lightly oxidative complexity. This is a pure, expressive and traditional Georgian orange wine with impressive depth and character.
