Casa Ferreirinha are arguably Portugal's most accomplished red wine producer. Makers of the iconic (and astronomically expensive) Barca Velha, they farm some of the finest plots of old vines in the Douro Valley. Meticulous hand selection of fruit, judicious use of high quality French oak and long macerations are key to their deep and profound red wines.

A single vineyard wine from the Quinta da Leda, this red is a blend of Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinto Cao, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cao and Sousao. The different varieties are all fermented together in the traditional Douro fashion before aging in 50% new French oak barrels.

Dark, almost black cherry in colour, the heady and intense aromas span a stunning range from ripe Victoria plum and blackberry fruit, lavender and thyme, hot petrichor minerality and spice and cocoa from the barrels. On the palate it is big and full, with substantial but smooth and ripe tannin and a lovely cooling freshness on the long finish. A rare beauty and stunning expression of Douro terroir, to drink now with roast or stewed meats or cellar if desired.
