This unique family-owned estate in the northern Dão region has long been both a pioneer and champion of local grape varieties. They were the first to bottle a varietal Encruzado back in 1998, overturning the regional commissions insistence that Dão DOC whites had to be blends of different grapes.
Alfrocheiro is a huge part of what Quinta dos Roques do, and a mainstay of their blends. The 2022 was so good they had to bottle it as a varietal wine.
This Alfrocheiro is such a great example of the grape variety, in particular from the Dao, and also from Quinta dos Roques. The pure, concentrated fruit of raspberry and loganberry has perfect ripeness. It's vibrant and refreshing as the the palate is juicy and energetic, very drinkable and very moreish.
