Provident Shiraz is a confident, beautifully structured expression of Barossa Shiraz, sourced from old vines (25–70 years) across some of the region’s most respected sub-regions, including Ebenezer, Kalimna, Stonewell, Vine Vale and Seppeltsfield. The 2023 vintage’s long, slow ripening season has brought excellent flavour development and natural balance. Open-fermented for five to eight days, the wine was gently pressed and matured for 15 months in predominantly older French oak, with a small proportion of older American puncheons, allowing the purity of fruit and Barossa character to shine through.
Deep magenta in colour, the nose is immediately lifted and complex, offering dark plum, black cherry and boysenberry layered with baking spices, milk chocolate, fruitcake, violets, crushed rock and panforte. The palate is vibrant and finely detailed, with fresh blackcurrant, ripe cherry and plum fruit supported by bright acidity and fine, sandy tannins. A subtle raspberry lift on the finish adds elegance and energy, while softly integrated oak provides structure rather than dominance.
A natural match for grilled steak, slow-roasted lamb, beef short ribs or mushroom-based dishes.
