The stunning vineyards of Tenuta del Conte are found in the Ciro region on Calabria's Mediterranean coast. First planted in the 1960s, the Parilla family were originally members of their local co-operative, selling the grapes they grew rather than vinifying their own wine. In 2004 they bottled their first ever wines under the Tenuta del Conte name, and since 2011 under Mariangella Parilla they have adopted a more natural approach. The wines are now beautiful expressions of this unique terroir, from organic vineyards of Calabria's indigenous varieties.
The Rosato is made from the Gaglioppo variety, Ciro's signature red grape. Direct pressed, fermented with native yeasts and then aged on fine lees for 12 months before bottling, this is a serious and gastronomic rose! A complex nose of floral and savoury character, with acacia, blood orange and frangipane aromas. The palate is dry and persistent, with a pleasant grip, apricot and cranberry notes. A great match for seafood stews, grilled peppers and octopus.
