On the historic main road through Franschhoek Valley, the Old Road Wine Co celebrate the winemaking heritage of South Africa's oldest wine region. Sourcing from a plethora of unique sites and old vines around the Western Cape, head winemaker Ryan Puttick crafts wines of excellent purity and freshness.
Their Pinotage is sourced from the clay soils of Paarl and Durbanville, and is a delightfully plush and fruity example of South Africa's signature red variety. There is a little hint of smoky bacon on the nose, typical of this grape, but it is nicely integrated with the soft red plums and berries. The palate is ripe and smooth, with plenty of supple red fruits and a touch of spice and milk chocolate from oak ageing. A real charmer of a Pinotage!
