Domaine Henri Gouges has been one of the most important domaines in Nuits St Georges for over a century. With small production from vines in six of the village's 1er Cru vineyards, Gouges wines highly sought-after and increasingly difficult to get your hands on.
One of the best-known aspects of Gouges wines is their ageing potential. Under the aegis of fourth-generation winemaker Grégory Gouges, they are increasingly approachable in youth... yet will continue to improve for a good two decades.
Les Pruliers is a mid-slope 1er Cru vineyard, planted on a huge variety of soil types and known for producing rich, ageworthy wines. The Gouges vines in Les Pruliers average 50 years of age, giving great concentration and intensity of flavours.
The nose shows classic cassis, dark berries, smoke and game. The deep, tangy palate is impeccably balanced but still very young - this wonder wine is still decades from its peak, but will only get more expensive as that time approaches.
