The El Altar is one of Daniel's single vineyard cuvees. The vines at this site near El Barraco are between 65 and 90 years old, and are planted on granitic soils with a Northern exposure. This, along with the altitude, helps to retain freshness in the wine.
Made in a very minimalistic way, the grapes are double selected, before de-stemming and fermenting naturally. The wine is aged in 600L French barrels for 1 year, and is bottled without fining or filtration.
This is a light and immensely elegant wine, exhibiting garnacha fruit beautifully entwined with herbs and spices.
