Caronne is a 45 ha property lying just to the west of St.Julien, planted traditionally with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. François Nony has made many improvements at the property which have gradually brought up the quality of the wines, bringing out the fruit and softening the style without losing the essential character of the wine. It is fermented in stainless steel before being transferred to cuvee for the malolactic. It is then blended and transferred into medium-toasted Allier barriques, 25-30% of which are new, where it ages for around 18 months.
