The best Condrieus are about texture as much as flavour and this wine showcases exactly why. It's made with Viognier grapes from 35-year-old vines clinging to the steep slopes of the Rhône Valley, laboriously and sustainably tended by the third generation of the Richard family, Hervé and his wife Marie Thérèse.
There is so much going on inside this bottle. The balance between fruit, freshness and minerality is exemplary, with vibrant flavours of apricots, peach and white blossom all on show. Crucially, a year of barrel ageing imparts that all-important texture, crescendoing to a delightfully pure and clean finish.
