Senor and Senora Rezabel are folk singers, but their family history lies in winemaking, so they abandoned singing as a career move.
They have 20 hectares of vines in Zarautz, which is in the small wine area Chacoli de Guetaria DO. The winery is just west of San Sebastian, not that far away from Bilbao.
The Basque country has been producing high quality wines for years, known for fresh styles of white and pink wines, often with high acidity and a little spritz.
This pale pink, delightful rose is made from local grape variety, Hondarrabi Beltza. Typical of the style, it is bright, jam packed with red fruits, bracing acidity and a slight effervescence, it also has a lighter alcohol level of 11%. It's great that this region has stuck to it's guns, producing a traditional, regional wine, unique in the winemaking world.
Enjoy icy cold al fresco, or pair it up with shellfish or grilled sardines.
