AA Badenhorst is a family run estate, owned by cousins Hein & Adi. Their family have over 50 years’ experience in South Africa’s wine industry, with their grandfather managing the iconic Groot Constantia. Together these two have restored a neglected cellar that was last used in the 1930′s to make natural wines in the traditional manner.
This is a blend of Shiraz, Cinsault, Grenache and Tinta Barocca. The grapes are hand selected before being crushed by foot stomping to start the natural fermentation, its then left in the tank for 6 months on the skins before spending 16 months in oak to develop. A rich and powerful wine with herbaceous notes, there is plenty of fruit on the nose and palate which compliments the big structure of the wine.
