Adelina produces minimal intervention wines and they are complete show-stoppers. Established in 2002, Adelina is a small vineyard and winery found in the Springfarm sub-region of Clare Valley. This formidable grape-growing region in the South of Australia benefits from unique conditions; with diurnal temperatures and ‘terra rossa’ soils helping this region gain international acclaim. They cultivate their vines with organic and biodynamic principles to show the expression of the vineyard.
This wine is made predominantly from vines planted between 1904 and 1920’s. It is grown on red sandy sites with clay base, slate and limestone. The wine is spends around 8 months in 700L neutral oak to give it fuller body with deeper complexity.
It is made from the Shiraz and Mataro grapes and has complex aromas of red cherry, dark berries, plum, and tobacco leaf with plush blackberry and dark chocolate on the palate. This is a smooth and strong wine with an interesting blend of rich dark fruits and savory notes. It is a great pairing to go with slow roasted leg of lamb with rosemary and garlic or even to simply sip on throughout the evening.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
