The Agricola Marrone winery is based in the famous village of La Morra, Barolo. The family has been working in the area for 4 generations now, and have built a reputation for creating expressive and powerful wines.
This is a very traditional Barbera from vineyards in Madonna di Como, Alba. 2021 was an excellent vintage for the region, with a late harvest giving great development of flavour. The Carlot hills have a brilliant south-east exposure at 400m, with fully mature vineyards planted in 1988. Rich red cherries, baking spices and a lovely food-friendly acidity make for a supremely drinkable wine. Long and persistent flavours, with a hint of dark chocolate on the finish.

Whilst packing up to move internationally a friend died and I needed to organise an emergency case of something luscious to support the wake. Not only did their wonderful team organise and deliver within an incredibly tight deadline they drafted a message for me too which I approved. Wonderful!!

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
