The Rocca family began its love affair with Nebbiolo over a century ago and has been producing its own wines since 1955. Angelo Rocca, whose three daughters now run the estate, was a Barbaresco pioneer, jettisoning big oak flavours for fruit purity and terroir expression.
The 50-year-old vines of the small Vigna Loreto vineyard root deep into limestone-clay soils, imparting an elegant mineral edge to this rich and complex wine. Two years ageing in large old oak barrels have ripened the tannins and broadened out the mid palate, which transitions from dense dark fruit to a sensationally pure finish that goes on and on.

Whilst packing up to move internationally a friend died and I needed to organise an emergency case of something luscious to support the wake. Not only did their wonderful team organise and deliver within an incredibly tight deadline they drafted a message for me too which I approved. Wonderful!!

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
