Chris and Suzaan Alheit are at the forefront of wine in South Africa. As new comers to the scene they already have a cult following and produce high quality wine that goes beyond the norm for South Africa, focusing on small sites and different terroir's.
This is single origin Chenin Blanc from granite soils in the Paardeburg mountains, the vine were planted in 1974 and are the source of other great wines. This is a restrained style of Chenin, light and tangy. Full of floral notes and herbs.

Henry and Team managed to locate some difficult to find American wine which they kindly offered and I gratefully accepted. They truly differentiate by being able to surprise by sourcing stock very much outside the run of the mill.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
