The rebel, because it is an Italian grape variety used to make wine in Australia. Montepulciano is more commonly found in Abruzzo or Tuscany in Italy. Montepulciano is a resilient grape variety and can achieve good yields even in hot climates such as Langhorne in Australia. It is a juicy variety, which can be drunk young, it's a simple wine but an enjoyable wine. It is unoaked.
Rich nose yet with tension and minerals, savoury hints and aromas of peach pannacotta with herbal notes. The palate is rich with a creamy mouth feel, white stone fruit combines with minerals and fresh herbs. Dry finish with mineral acidity and powerful, persistent length.
The 2017 vintage has produced a delightfully fresh, well-balanced and smooth Bacchus. Calmer yet more complex on the nose than many vintages, our 2017 wine leads with herbal, tomato leaf and basil notes complimented by delightful tropical tones of papaya, mango and pineapple…with elderflower taking a less pronounced but vital supporting role. We delight in the way our Bacchus exposes so many new faces to us every year. As always, the palate is super-clean, refreshing and balanced….always leaving you wanting another sip!
