Ancre Hill Estates Biodynamic Orange Wine 2018

£19.99 GBP

Ancre Hill estate is based in the Welsh county of Monmouthshire, the 12 hectares of vineyards are on the slopes close to the Wye Valley. The family run winery believes that "great wine is made in the vineyard" which is brilliant to see in a country that isn't known for making wine. They are fully organic and biodynamic. Wales is not known for producing wine due to its climate, with its very sporadic weather patterns it can be very hard to judge.

However, this vineyard still manages to be farmed organically and make top quality wines. The rose fizz which we also have in is superb and only 10% abv. Aptly named, this bottle of orange wine is just as exciting to look at as it is to drink. Made from Albariño grown in Wales ( yes you read that right ) this is something different and surely one of a kind. The juice spends around 50 days macerating with the skins to create the colour and profile for the wine. From the first smell and taste to the last sip it's ever changing, a complex nose of rustic apricots and floral notes to the robust acidity and softs tannins on the palate.

We are really excited to be working Exclusively with these producers in this area and highly recommend all their wines, they have been really lovely people to deal with which goes a long way in this business.
