Founded in 1998, Brooks is a reflection of visionary Portland native, Jimi Brooks. His reverence for the land and vines made him a practitioner of organic and biodynamic farming. After his passing, Jimi’s son Pascal became the sole owner of the winery.
This Riesling comes from sustainable vineyard, 'Ana', in the Dundee Hills AVA. Cooler climate varieties fair well in the Willamette Valley. The vines are dry farmed, hand harvested and sorted, then 100% destemmed and pressed directly to stainless steel where the wine ages for 6 months.
The Ara Riesling displays an expressive nose with honey-ed stone fruit and a touch of that unmistakable riesling character. Alsatian in style, it is relatively taut and dry. The palate opens up with tropical fruits, giving the impression of some sweetness. Exotic notes of orange blossom and saffron make this a very enticing wine.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
