Established in 1906 and claiming to be the oldest co-operative in France, the Arbois Fruitière has played a significant role in the history and development of modern Jura wines. Today around 100 members deliver approximately one-third of the AOC’s production to the co-operative.
The Arbois Chardonnay is aged in large foudre and in cement tanks and resembles a classic Chablis. The alcohol is not too high at 12.5%. It is medium rich, quite a mellow wine, Burgundian like and not too over the top. It has a good amount of tangy fruit, balanced with a savoury feel.
Be adventurous, try the wines from Jura, they can be very rewarding. This works well on its own, or with hard cheese or fish.
