The 12 hectares of Ca Nova's ancient vineyards produce some of the most authentic Barbaresco anywhere in the region. Pietro, Giulio and Franco Rocca are real Nebbiolo aficionados, tending their vines without chemical treatments and carefully selecting the best grapes to go into the wines.
Bric Mentina is a classic Barbaresco - exuberant, fruit-driven and rich to the point of opulence. There's so much personality in this full-bodied wine. The palate flits seamlessly between juicy cherries, dense damsons and plums, liquorice, tar and tobacco, with space left over for perfumed floral notes. The tannins are so smooth they could reform the Rat Pack.
Drink any time over the next decade and instantly forget everything you ever heard about Barbaresco being Barolo's poorer cousin.
