Ravera was traditionally one of the more overlooked Crus of Barolo. Thanks in large part to the efforts of Elvio Cogno, this is certainly no longer the case. This beautifully expressive and delicate Barolo, which is entering its prime, shows why.
It's now starting to showcase the hallmarks of great Nebbiolo: cherries and strawberries, roses, tar, liquorice and savoury balsamic notes. The tannins are deep and velvety and the mouthfeel is held in place, just as it should be, by the lingering line of acidity, which carries the finish to great heights.
