This wine from Blank Bottle is named after Pagnol, the author of Manon des Sources. It is a blend of Grenache Blanc from Wellington and Swartland, with a sprinkling of Grenache Gris. This is a skin contact wine, which adds layers of texture to this fleshy, full bodied style of white wine.
The label is a map of the Marseilles area. When Pieter and his friend were invited to a film festival in France, they were finalists with a documentary about Blank Bottle winery. Pieter and his friend were explaining about the wines to the judges, and mentioned that they also made a wine called Manon des Sources. One of the judges introduced himself, he was Nicola Pagnol, the grandson of the author of Manon des Sources.
