Over the past three decades, Ribera del Duero has ascended to rival Rioja, vying for the esteemed title of Spain's preeminent wine region. Bodegas Antidoto is located in San Esteban of Gormaz (Soria), at the centre of a nucleus of villages to the south of the Duero river, on sandy land with abundant pebbles. Their wines come from the old Tinto Fino (tempranillo) vineyards, all subject to viticulture managed ecologically.
Emerging as one of the Ribera del Duero producers to keep your eye on, Bertrand Sourdais presents the 'Antidoto,' sourced from the most exceptional vineyard sites in the region, boasting vines of a minimum age of 60 years. This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
