Bruno Sorg is the estate, they are based in Alsace in eastern France. Although northerly, Alsace is a warm, dry region, protected from the weather by the Vosges mountains. This particular wine in made from the Gewurztraminer grape. Gewurztraminer refers to spice garden. It can often feel like it is off dry, really floral on the nose and quite rich for a white wine, which holds up to spicy food really well.
Rich nose yet with tension and minerals, savoury hints and aromas of peach pannacotta with herbal notes. The palate is rich with a creamy mouth feel, white stone fruit combines with minerals and fresh herbs. Dry finish with mineral acidity and powerful, persistent length.
The 2017 vintage has produced a delightfully fresh, well-balanced and smooth Bacchus. Calmer yet more complex on the nose than many vintages, our 2017 wine leads with herbal, tomato leaf and basil notes complimented by delightful tropical tones of papaya, mango and pineapple…with elderflower taking a less pronounced but vital supporting role. We delight in the way our Bacchus exposes so many new faces to us every year. As always, the palate is super-clean, refreshing and balanced….always leaving you wanting another sip!
