Carlos Lucas was a former farmer who turned his hand to winemaking over 25 years ago and is now a talented winemaker boasting a wealth of experience from estates throughout Portugal. The Quinta da Ribeiro Santo estate was originally purchased by his father in 1995 and now serves as his home and the base of his winemaking operations.
Hand-picked. Grapes from an old Encruzado vineyard at Quinta do Ribeiro Santo. Grapes pressed with 100% stems. Selection of grape must and decantation at low temperature.
Fermentation in stainless steel vats with the wine's indigenous yeasts, followed by ageing in stainless steel tanks, and only filtered before bottling.
Showcasing the simplicity and ageability of the Encruzado variety.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
