Casa de Saima, Tonel 10, Bairrada, 2014

100% Baga

Lighter than other Saima Cuvees, this is mid-intensity ruby at its core, with a brightness to the rim. The nose is plum and bramble fruit, with earthy spice and pine resin. The palate is light to medium in body, though full of red fruit and berry flavours, with an herbaceous touch. The tannins are plentiful but soft, due to the aging in vat, and combined with acidic structure delivers a linearity all the way through a long finish. Delicious now, but will easily cellar well for 10 years.
