Casa de Vilacetinho is located in Alpendurada overlooking the River Douro and covers an estate with 30 hectares of vineyards that are some of the oldest and most prestigious of the Vinho Verde Region. The brand was established in 1950 although they have been producing wines on the estate since 1790, in fact in 1957 one of the estate wines was chosen to be served to Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Portugal. With a predominantly southerly exposure, and continuous granite soils this is one of the most prosperous terroirs of the region set to the production of ‘Vinho Verde'
The wines are made using traditional techniques but harnessing modern technology in a state of the art winery. The Avesso & Alvarinho Vinho Verde from Casa Vilacetinho is a wine with great complexity and structure showing intense minerality and freshness along with a rounded, slightly weighty character.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
