DENOMINATION: Rioja Designation of Origin
VINIFICATION: After carefully and rigorously monitoring the ripening, we obtain the must, that after debourbage we pass to the fermentation in French and American oak barrels. It remains for 6 months with its lees to increase its volume and silkiness in taste.
AROMA: Complex and intense, with notes of tree fruits (pear, peach) and tropical (like banana) appearing always well ensembled with oak.
COLOUR: Straw-green Yellow, clean and bright.
TASTE: Initially, smooth, with volume and marked silkiness giving it its personality. Good final acidity provoking persistence.
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 10-12 Cº
The wines from Casa Primicia have proved very popular for over the last few years, mainly the reds, and we now have their mouth filling white Rioja back in stock. Casa Primicia is a traditional very well priced Rioja producer, based in the oldest building in Laguardia, in Rioja Alavesa.
The building has been there since the 15th century. However, the wines are quite modern in their approach, favouring plenty of fruit back up with judicial oak treatments. The reds use Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano, staples of the Rioja region. The white is a little more international, using Chardonnay, which has been mellowed in both french and american oak for six months.
It's developing very nicely since we had the first batch earlier this year. It is medium bodied, with pineapple and tangy fruit flavours, with a light creamy feel, it's bright and not super heavy, but tasty all the same. Welcome back.
