The small, cliff-top vineyard from which these grapes come ignores convention. The rows of vines avoid the temptation to face south, in favour of a downhill alignment towards the sea. This allows the morning mists, for which this region around Sintra hill is well known, to rise up through the vineyard and caress the grapes with cool air and mildly saline vapour.
Through temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel, Casal Santa Maria manage to combine this expressive sense of place with fantastic varietal fruit characters of zesty citrus, green apple and crisp minerality.
Crunchy acidity, textured, good citric sensations, very long finish very fresh and salty due to the proximity from the Atlantic Ocean.
