“Alimara” in Catalan, means beacon and in this instance they are referring to the beacons of fire that were placed on the top of hills to rapidly pass signals between towns and populations. This thought process becomes clear when understanding their wines as a signal of Catalans increasing quality and ingenuity.
"Senyal" which translates to signal in Catalan is made with Grenache (60%), Downy Grenache (20%), Carignan (20%). After a hot dry summer resulted in early ripening, both the Grenaches were picked as late as possible to ensure absolute ripeness.
Individual varieties were handpicked and fermented in stainless steel, maturation lasted 6 months in French and American oak barrels (20% of which were new).
Expressive floral nose full of ripe strawberry and vanilla with a hint of blackcurrant. Red fruits and plums dominate the palate while the strawberries are always present. Structured but smooth with velvet tannins. A must have for any bbq.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
