Château Cantemerle's woodland home is amongst the most beautiful of any château in the Médoc. It can be found in the far south of the region, almost on the outskirts of the city of Bordeaux. Cantemerle has 94 hectares of vineyards, planted with traditional Bordeaux varieties. The wines are made under the guidance of consultant oenologist, Eric Boissenot, and all experience 12 months' ageing in French oak, of which 40% is new.
This Cantemerle 2016, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 64%, Merlot 28%, Cabernet Franc 5%, Petit Verdot 3%, is unquestionably a class act. The red and black fruit on the palate has an uncommon level of detail and clarity for this quality level. The oak framework is present, as it always is with Cantemerle, yet it is pleasantly sweet and delicate. Stunning and delicious fruit that has depth and structure. Cantemerle is one of the most reliable and well-liked Clarets at its price point and this is no exception.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
