Philippe Colin, a vintner with a forward-looking vision, has established his modern winemaking facility in the industrial zone of Chassagne Montrachet. He possesses a share of the esteemed Colin-Deleger vineyards and has also curated a selection of exceptional négociant cuvées to complement his offerings. Embodying a new-generation approach, his wines boast a label that reflects both allure and innovation.
Favouring finesse and subtlety over sheer power, the Philippe Colin style exemplifies elegance in winemaking. One of his notable creations, Les Chênes, hails from the excellent red wine region located just below Maltroie. The soil in this area is deeper and clay-rich, imparting unique characteristics to the wine.
The winemaking process for Les Chênes involves destemming the grapes entirely, followed by ageing in classic 228-litre barrels. On the nose, the wine delights with its spicy aromas, intertwined with luscious red and black cherry notes, along with a hint of bramble. The palate exudes juiciness and a delightful crunch, offering sweet fruit flavours alongside well-defined, grippy tannins.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
