Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste Lacoste Borie Pauillac 2016

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, classified as a 5th Growth Cru Classé Pauillac estate, has consistently surpassed the expectations associated with its classification over the years. Situated just a few kilometres to the west of Pauillac town, this prestigious property is under the ownership and stewardship of François-Xavier Borie.

Encompassing 90 hectares of vineyards, primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (75%) and Merlot (25%), Grand-Puy-Lacoste's vineyard forms an impressive block surrounding the 19th-century château. These vineyards rest on deep gravel soils layered over limestone. The winemaking process begins with fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by maturation in oak barriques, with 50% of them being new, for a period of 18 months.

Grand-Puy-Lacoste is characterized by its captivating aroma reminiscent of cigar boxes, complemented by the richness of blackcurrant and cassis fruit, as well as a velvety power that exemplifies the epitome of top-tier Pauillac at its finest.

The 2016 vintage is an exquisite blend comprised of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc. Crafted in a more approachable style for relatively early consumption, it offers an intriguing medley of cedarwood, blackcurrants, and graphite, accompanied by hints of orange zest and  mixed herbs. While it is already drinking splendidly, this wine also possesses the potential for graceful aging over an extended period.
