Acquired by the Barton family in 2011, this estate near Chasse Spleen is now the home of Anthony’s daughter Lillian and her family. They share the chateau with the mother of the previous owner, the Baritault de Capria family. This cosy arrangement was one of the conditions of the sale!
They immediately started work renovating the entire estate including increasing density in the 48ha vineyards and replacing some high yielding rootstocks with those better suited to quality.
The gravel and clay vineyards are planted with 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Fermentation is in 24 new stainless steel tanks and the wines are aged for 12 months in 33% new French oak. The older, used oak comes from the flagship Barton property, Leoville Barton.
