Frank Phelan stands as the esteemed second wine of Château Phelan-Ségur, paying homage to Frank Phelan, the son of Bernard O’Phelan, a wine merchant from Tipperary. Bernard O’Phelan, through a fortuitous (or astute) marriage to the daughter of a prominent Bordeaux wine trader, secured ownership of the 'Segur' property. Situated in the eastern reaches of Saint-Estèphe in Bordeaux, Chateau Phelan Segur is nestled upon gravelly alluvial soils that were laid down over 650,000 years ago. Today, the estate is entrusted to the care of Xavier Gardinier and his three sons, overseeing its sprawling 70-hectare expanse. The vineyards are predominantly planted with 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot vines, boasting an average age of 35 years. During the meticulous harvest, grapes are hand-picked and rigorously sorted, and the subsequent aging process takes place in partially new barrels for a duration of 14 to 18 months.

The wine itself unveils a captivating profile characterized by pure cassis, delicate violets, earthy undertones, hints of lead pencil, and a pronounced spice-driven complexity in both aroma and flavour.
