The small five hectare vineyard at Château Haut-Beychevelle de Gloria has vines of an average age of thirty years, and is located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation. The grapes include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc and are handpicked and fermented in traditional heat-regulated stainless steel containers.

Manual harvest. Classical vinification with long final maceration. Fermentation on the skins for 4 to 6 weeks. Ageing for 18 months in vats and barrels, with 33% new barrels. Brilliant, intense colour with crimson highlights. On the nose, the bouquet reveals a wine of robust and elegant character. Very typical wine with nice ripe fruit every year, perfectly illustrating the charm of Saint-Julien wines. On the palate, silky, with long-lasting, delicious length. Chateau Haut-Beychevelle Gloria is owned by the Martin family who also own Ch. St Pierre (4th growth), Ch. Gloria, Ch. Bel Air (Medoc) and Ch.

Pey Martin. Chateau Haut-Beychevelle Gloria has been in the Martin family for more than 300 years and shares the same technical team as Chateau Gloria but is a completely different wine. It comes from a small 5 hectare parcel of vines situated between Beychevelle , Ducru Beaucaillou and Gloria.

Here on deep gravel the plot is planted 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot 10% Cabernet Franc with vines around 30 years old. Harvesting is all by hand before vinification is in stainless steel tanks, with full Malo taking place in the tanks it is then aged for 12 months in barrels – 35% new – before bottling. Just 2,000 are produced in each vintage making this a very limited production wine – yet the quality is very good indeed for the price.
